Walks In Spain

Are you trying to find walks in Spain? Don’t worry you are not alone, every time I get into a discussion about walking holidays in Spain, just after the question, where should I stay? Comes the question of where are the best walks in Spain. My initial answer is always the same, it depends what you want from your walking holiday.

As you can probably tell, most of the time, this question comes from people that have never taken a walking holiday, let alone a walking holiday in Spain. Experienced walkers, with knowledge of Spain, tend to ask more specific questions like, who offers guided walks in Andalucia? Or what are the best coastal walks in northern Spain? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind helping people that have never been on a walking holiday in Spain, in fact it is the very reason I set up this site, its just that they seem to be looking for a quick answer, when there isn’t one.

This whole question of walks in Spain started me thinking about the design of this site. I want anybody interested in a walking holiday in Spain to be able benefit from visiting this site, but how to write for the novice walker, without talking down to the experienced hiker, is going to take some thought. So, please bear with me while I figure this one out.

Anyway back to the question at hand, as I have already said, there is no, one answer fits all, type of response, so I thought the best thing to do would be to let you decide for yourselves. The way I am going to do this is to go through the seventeen regions of Spain and describe what they have to offer, in terms of landscape, culture, food, and points of interest etc.

After going through the regions we will get into the specifics of taking a walking holiday in Spain. I will tell you what I think are the best walks in Spain and why. By this stage I am hoping some of will chip in with you own thoughts, stories, tips, and advice. I can recommend what I think are the best guided walks in Andalucia, for example, but I haven’t taken them all, that’s where you come in. If you have been walking in Spain why not tell everyone about it, all you have to do is click on the leave a comment link at the top of this post and away you go.

Anyway that’s enough for today, in the next post we will look at the first of our seventeen regions. Thank you for reading Walks In Spain and for taking the time to visit Walking Holidays Spain.
